The Air Ring
The air ring is equipped with horizontally sliding teeth that adjust the air flow through the radially located vanes in the air ring’s plenum causing preferential cooling on the outside of the bubble.
A circuit board inside the controller converts the mapped thickness profile into instructions for the scanning actuator which slides “in” or “out” a multitude of fingers (108-252 depending on air ring
size), as needed, to open or close the airflow channels (vanes).
The Controller
The Controller processes the raw signal profile along with the haul-o or rotating die position and nip roll speed to precisely map the film’s thickness profile.
The new Generation 3 Controller allows for the addition of many à la carte modules, such as Digital Internal Bubble Cooling Control, Bubble Inflation/Deflation System, Cage Control, and more. All connections utilize standard M12 molded cables to virtually eliminate the possibility of wiring errors.
