NEWARK, N.Y., May 19, 2016 – Addex Inc., a leading global supplier of auto-profile and other related systems for blown film lines, has announced a recent consolidation which includes the closing of its Stoughton, Mass. facility and expansion of the Newark, N.Y. site. The move will enable Addex to streamline its business and focus on its leading-edge cooling technology including high-output and stability stackable cooling, auto-profiles, and internal bubble cooling (IBC) control systems.

At the same time, the company announced the appointment of Robert Cree as President and Rick von Kraus as Chairman of the Board. Von Kraus will step down from his daily operational duties, but continue to serve in an advisory and consulting role.

“We’re excited that Bob has assumed a top leadership role and we’re confident that his energy and long-time experience in blown film will help Addex expand and maximize its industry-leading technology,” said von Kraus. Cree has been with Addex since its inception and formerly served as Executive Vice President.

“The consolidation is an important step forward because it enables us to focus on what we do best, namely cooling technology,” said Cree. He added that the closing of the Stoughton operation will improve the company’s cost structure and overall financial position. Addex has exited the business of supplying complete blown film lines, but continues to service its previous products such as dies and oscillating haul-offs, by special customer request.

Addex has enlarged its Newark, N.Y. facility to concentrate on its core cooling technology business, including a soon-to-be-announced high-performance cooling system, as well as their industry recognized EGC auto profile controls, Digital IBC controls, and LFR and MGC dual-flow air ring technologies. The expansion includes the installation of a new lab line used to develop new high-performance cooling technologies and, as well as, performance and cost saving upgrades for its broad range of electronic control systems.

The Newark facility will have a total workforce of 15 including newly appointed inside sales manager James Botcher, a 15-year sales veteran in the electronics field. Addex will continue to rely on valued vendor relationships including local machine shops and sub-contractors, guided by 30-year plastics industry veteran Bill Edmondson, as Addex Production Manager. Forty-year plastics industry veteran Bill Randolph will continue to serve as Engineering Manager and remain heavily involved in all aspects of Addex R&D efforts, said Cree.

Today, Addex supplies some of the most sophisticated technologies capable of producing films at the highest possible output and stability, with the lowest possible gauge variation. Addex’s focus on research and development has resulted in over 20 U.S. patents (or patents pending), including a soon-to-be-announced high-performance cooling system focused on higher output and stability, Automatic and Manual Profile Controls that yield high-quality films, an All-Digital IBC Control that significantly reduces scrap, and a host of other blown film specific inventions in the areas of die design, oscillating haul-off technology, and winding.
